This course provides help in teaching foreign languages online. It not only covers the basics of delivering a class online via Zoom or Skype but it also shows other online services for making quizzes, sharing a whiteboard, running a discussion, etc.
Effective feedback is key to learning. But what makes feedback active and influential? Why is some feedback taken on board and other feedback ignored? In this module we’ll explore different types of feedback and its role in maximising the usefulness of, and receptivity to, learning in the English classroom. We’ll discuss different tools and strategies for effective feedback and how peer feedback can be a particularly powerful tool for learning. The module is designed to assist teachers to reflect on their current practice and to consider feedback practices that are relevant to their context.
Objectives. By the end of the module the participants will be able to:
- give feedback to students and their parents in a proactive and effective way
- implement feedback skills to improve students’ outcomes and relations within the class
- design tasks encouraging learner autonomy and reflection.

You will also be expected to seek further resources relevant to the focus of your own learning.
Module 1 explores the different models of critical reflection, knowledge of which will help you to structure your practice and evaluate whether you are reflecting and therefore learning effectively.
